Recently, my Husband and I discovered this Porsche repair shop -- that totally blew us away with their tremendously superior level of expertise, technical skills, customer communications, and highly uncommon common sense! We are seniors and long standing owners of a 1986 Porsche 911 Carrerra S (turbo look), so we have dealt with numerous Porsche shops over decades. In our transition from PA to the Charlotte area, Black Forest Racing has proven to be outstanding. And you don't have to be a racing afficionado to be able to communicate very well with Jonathan and Allen who speak "Porsche" at all levels authoritatively, and with the highest standards. They both go far beyond repairs with their always solid advice that balances technical, safety, and financial considerations of repairs and maintenance. (Please also note that their Denver location is a dream compared to Charlotte area congestion.) Best of all, there is no ego trip with these experts and their staff. They know Porsches of all types and classes, and they share their knowledge generously -- giving you the best possible advice for you and your Porsche(s). They are great technicians who obviously strive for excellence in all of their work on Porsches and in helping their customers. Jonathan and Allen are very genuinely nice with no nonsense! You will be so glad once you contact Black Forest Racing. We recommend working with Jonathan and Allen and their team in the highest possible terms! And you are welcome -- because you will want to thank us for this review, just as we want to thank them for their exceptional service!

"I've been thrilled with the knowledge and quality of work! Cody listened to how I was using the car (street and several fast track events/year) and made perfect recommendations that worked within my budget.
One of the most important benefits of BFR is their knowledge and experience. Not only knowing what are the 'best parts to bolt on' but HOW to set the car up. Cody spent the time talking with the chip upgrade maker to clarify an intake question. He also talked with them about my Fabspeed header / Borla cat back exhaust set up, pre/post dyno runs, etc.
On top of that, Cody let me know that EVOM, the chip maker, offered him a discount because he was going to send them my dyno results. So Cody passed the savings on to me directly. This speaks volumes to his integrity.
I live in Charlotte and there are local shops that "specialize" in what I wanted done. I talked to them all and BFR is heads and shoulders above. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!"

BFR is a fantastic Indy Porsche specialist. The technicians know how to effectively diagnose issues, esp. on older cars. Cody Eldred, one of the lead techs I worked with, is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and skilled at mitigating issues. I had a front suspension noise issue in my 911, and Cody took the time to ride with me and understand the problem, and was able to effectively diagnose the issue, pinpoint the components that had worn out and needed replacement. Another aspect that I appreciated was the Cody and the team stayed focused on the specific issue/components, and did not push for replacement of other related parts (which some other shops have done, esp. when they can’t pinpoint the problem). 5 stars to Cody and the BFR team, and highly recommended!

"Black Forest Racing was the answer to all of my concerns with my classic Porsche 924 Turbo. So lucky to have found this shop with incredibly knowledgeable Porsche mechanics. John and Cody patiently took the time to explain exactly what I needed to do to get the service my car needed!
Highly recommend Black Forest Racing to anyone looking for a shop with a passion for cars as well as being able to perform top quality Porsche service!"

"These days it seems like the internet is filled with horror stories about businesses that constantly fail to do the right thing by their customers. Having spent my entire working life in and around various aspects of the automotive world, I see it all too often.
My 1990 911 had one of these 'mystery' issues that had more than a few Porsche guys scratching their heads. Many fixes and experiments were tried and many theories fell short. Having already spent far more than I'd wanted to, the last thing I wanted to do was drop the car off at yet another shop for another couple of weeks, only to get it back in much the same shape I'd left it.
I was told John is established and trustworthy among local PCA members and as a last resort, I decided to leave it with him. Over the course of days spent at Blackforest, John and Cody quickly identified various things in need of adjustment, some missed details in previous 'fixes', and a couple of items that were well beyond their 'sell by' dates. This was a starting point and while the car was noticeably better after all of this, we all agreed it hadn't yet reached it's full potential. As a result, John and Cody would ask for more time. It was clear this had become personal for them and I appreciated that they were more interested in solving the problem than finding extra things to bill me for.
A week later, mystery solved. Phrases like "it's a completely different car now" pretty much summed it up. 3 months later the thing starts, idles, and runs like a clock every day - and I couldn't be happier.
Throughout the time spent at Blackforest, the only parts that were replaced were parts in obvious need of replacement. Nothing was touched unless it related to the issue at hand and I'd been spoken to about 'why' & 'how much'. It's an old school approach that's often promoted but seldom practiced.
When it was all said and done, they probably could have charged more but they didn't. They fixed a car, but more importantly, they earned a customer."

Last Monday, I finally decided to do it, so I dropped off my '04-S with 70,080 miles at my local Porsche garage on Monday. Thanks to Black Forest Racing.
Thursday, I picked it up and now have a new TuneRS Motorsports DOF IMS in place as well as a new RMS, rear engine case bolts, Victor Reinz flywheel crankshaft seal among other seals, and an oil change/oil filter.
This is one happy car and I now have peace of mind that I now clean and wax obsessively.

First experience with Black Forest was great. Finding someone with experience in repairing Porsche 914's is becoming difficult. Went in for a valve adjustment and new shift bushings. Later found that the transmission had a bottle cap wedged inside. They sent a multitude of pictures (wish others would do this). Then worked with Cogscogs, who has worked with Black Forest, to get a rebuilt transmission with warranty. So happy to have found these two sources for my 79 Porsche 914.

Quality service at a reasonable price. They’ve serviced my Panamera twice and I’ve been pleased with the work.

Race Support +++
For my first racing may years I wasn't sure what to expect, wasn't sure what I would need. I hired BFR for support "just in case" but figured I could handle it on my own as i had done in the past...
What en eye opening experience. There was so much I was not anticipating or expecting. Cody was there checking over the car before and after every session. Great sense of comfort knowing a pro is going over things to ensure nothing was missed or forgotten. Once on track Cody was there providing support and spotting, again confidence building. Then after finishing a session, he was there to review data and help focus my attention for the next session/race. Not to mention mechanical support. Cody was right on top of things when I had a mechanical issue (cracked header), He had it out and repaired with time to spare, I didn't miss a minute of time.
Thanks Again!!!! You were there with assistance I didn't know i needed.

The best. Prices are reasonable, work is first class. Saved me buying a dud with a PPI, always happy to answer questions. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Cody and his crew are top notch. Racing, street, or garage queen Porsches, they will take good care of you.

I cannot say enough about the skills and art of the Black Forest Racing crew! I took my 2015 targa gts to them last week (happily drove from Raleigh NC to their shop in Denver) for a performance suspension / alignment upgrade. Jonathan and Cody transformed my already amazing car to an unrecognizable planted, super well-balanced “beast” on the back roads. These guys are pure genius!!!

I recently took my 2016 Porsche Macan S for a transfer case service, the service was outstanding, Javier was my mechanic and pointed out some good consideration on my car and Jonathan was able to provide photos of the service and offered great pricing. Truly an seamless experience. I highly recommend this shop to all Porsche enthusiasts.

Cody and his team are the go to shop for all things Porsche. Experienced tuners, builders, and racers, they have deep knowledge of brand, solid connections in the region and a great reputation. They have worked on my SC, and on my highly modified VR6 Volkswagen. The customer service was top-notch. They kept me informed throughout the process and were always available to answer any questions I had. The transparent communication and fair pricing made me feel confident that I was getting the best service possible. Black Forest Racing has earned my trust and loyalty. If you're a Porsche owner looking for a mark specialist, I highly recommend BFR.

I've owned a Cayman with a TCP turbo track setup for over 5 years, and Black Forest Racing has kept it in outstanding condition throughout. From installing a new Garrett Turbo to maintaining a heavy-duty race-oriented vehicle, their expertise is unmatched. They always have my car serviced, tuned, and event-ready ahead of time. Outstanding Porsche service—highly recommended!
